Contact the Apple Valley VW Association
Whether you’re interested in joining the club, sponsoring Volksfest, or just have a question about what we do — we’d love to hear from you.
We can also be found in person at 7 PM on the first Tuesday of each month at Bob’s Burgers and Brew in Yakima. New faces are always welcome — come a little early, grab a bite, stay for the meeting.

Help us tell the AVVA story
This is a special ask, and we mean it.
AVVA has been around since April 1989. That’s 35+ years of monthly meetings, summer cruises, tech nights in members’ garages, Volksfests, hand-crafted trophies, valve cover races, Cruisin’ The Ave, Anniversary parties, charity drives, after-Volksfest pizza at the Hatch’s, and a whole lot of Volkswagens. Almost none of it lives online.
A revolving cast of well-meaning volunteers has tried to keep avva.us alive over the decades, but life happens, jobs change, and the site has slowly lost most of the history that used to be there. We’re rebuilding it now — and we need your help to bring it back.
If you have any of this sitting in a shoebox, a Facebook album, an old hard drive, or a binder in the garage — please send it our way:
- 📸 Photos from any Volksfest, club cruise, tech night, parade, or party — the older the better
- 📰 Old issues of Das Auto, the club newsletter (we have nothing from the 1990s online)
- 🏆 Trophy photos — especially the hand-crafted ones from years past
- 👕 T-shirt designs — you know each year had a different one
- 📋 Volksfest registration forms, results sheets, dash plaques
- 📜 Stories — how you joined, your favorite memory, the time the bug broke down on the way home from Springmeet, the build of your first ride
- 📹 Video from drag-race day at Renegade, club cruises, anything
- 🧓 Names of past officers and members we should be sure to remember
- 📜 Anything else — if you’re not sure whether it’s useful, send it anyway. We’ll figure it out.
You don’t need to be a current member. If you were ever in AVVA, ever attended Volksfest, ever sponsored us, ever just bought a bug from a member — we want to hear from you too.
Two ways to share:
- The easy way: use our share page — drop photos and files straight from your phone or computer. Takes about ten seconds.
- The classic way: email john@robug.com with whatever you’ve got attached, or mail it to the PO Box above. If you have prints or slides you don’t want to give up, we’ll scan and return them.
Everything submitted is reviewed by a real human before it goes on the site. We’ll credit you on the page if you want us to, or keep your name out of it — just let us know.
Got physical media? We’ll digitize it — free
This is a real offer, not a hand-wave. John (the volunteer rebuilding this site) runs a high-speed sheet-fed scanner that will rip through stacks of old newsletters, registration forms, programs, and photos in minutes — and a VHS deck and capture rig that can digitize any tapes you’ve got from drag-race day, club cruises, or anywhere else.
If you’ve got photo albums, slides, prints, newsletter binders, VHS tapes, MiniDV tapes, Hi8, or any other physical media you’d rather not part with permanently — reach out. We’ll arrange to pick everything up, digitize it, and hand the originals back to you. Nothing leaves your custody longer than it takes to run it through the scanner or the deck.
Email john@robug.com to set something up.
While the new site is in preview, the contact email above goes to John (john@robug.com), who’s helping the club rebuild things. The club’s long-running email applevalleyvw@hotmail.com still works too.
